Results of the statistical analysis of the dynamics of areas under crops and crop capacity of winter and spring barley as a whole in Russia and including the Rostov region are stated. In the Rostov region this culture occupies considerable arable land. A brief description of the best varieties of winter and spring barley allowed to use in the North Caucasian region is given.
