This article discusses the stereotypes in relation to the fascist regime in Italy used in the Soviet press in the 1920s-1930s. Despite the successful cooperation in the foreign policy arena, in the ideology field, the Bolsheviks and Italian fascists were enemies. This was reflected in the Soviet press and journalism of this period. The term «fascism» was used not only for the Mussolini regime, but also for other right-wing nationalist regimes. The Soviet press regularly emphasized that according to the concept of the general crisis of capitalism fascism was close to perishing. Many of the problems that Mussolini faced were mistakenly regarded as a sign of the regime's soon collapse. The reasons for the appearance of fascism were also analyzed unsuccessfully. Attention was focused on the anti-communism of the fascists. Italian militarism and social policy were criticized. At the same time, Mussolini's foreign policy was analyzed from neutral positions.
