The article considers a stylistic analysis the episode of W. Shakespeare’s play “The Merchant of Venice” (scene III. Venice. A public place), reveals the author’s cultural and historical epoch in the context of the composition, and the author’s attitude to the events of his time. It is claimed that the stylistic analysis of the text has a strong potential in the researching of language system and its historical development. Analysis of “The Merchant of Venice” showed that the play complies with the norms of textuality and can be reflection of the author’s world view.
