The considered functions of wages allowed to clarify the definition of this term and to give the author's version of the classification of the functions of wages. In more detail in article the stimulating function of a salary is considered, the author's interpretation is given. Special attention is paid to the mechanism of determining the effectiveness of the stimulating function of wages.
