Kyzyl-alma-2 site - a new Upper Paleolithic site in Western Tien Shan

Бесплатный доступ

The fact of quantitative misbalance between Middle and Upper Paleolithic sites in Central Asia has been attracted an attention of researchers for a long time. In contrast to Middle Paleolithic, the history of Upper Paleolithic epoch in the territory of Central Asia (and Uzbekistan in particularly) is scarcely represented. Discovery and research of new Upper Paleolithic sites in the territory of Central Asia make a significant contribution in solution of above mentioned problems. In particular, recent discovery and study of the new site Kyzyl-Alma 2 (the preliminary study results are presented in this article) makes it possible to look in a new way at the origin and further development of Upper Paleolithic culture in this region. Based on preliminary studies, Kyzyl-Alma 2 site could be interpreted as a workshop existed on raw material outcrops during the beginning of Upper Paleolithic epoch of the region.
