Columnar jointing in a lava flow as an indicator of its layering: technical-methodological note

In this brief note, we compare the results of simple structural measurements obtained by the geological compass Apple iPhone 5 with Lambert application, and by a conventional mining compass. With its simplicity, convenience and high speed of measurements the first compass works with a much higher accuracy than the latter one.
