The article discusses the issue of improving the efficiency of the enterprise in connection with the approach to the concept of "mission" of strategic management. Analysis of the various points of view of scientists on the concept of "mission" leads us to the conclusion that the meaning of this term can be reduced to six main areas: "mission - as the philosophy of the company"; "mission - as a detailed characteristic of the company"; "mission as different from the main objective"; "mission - like a virus" and "mission in terms of missiology." Moreover, this classification of the concept of "mission" can be considered as a characteristic of the predictability of achieving strategic goals by the organization. The strategic maturity proposed by the authors will allow you to quickly and easily diagnose the future effectiveness of companies.
