The paper analyzes the possible threats of emergencies and current state of forces and resources of Emergency Situations Ministry deployed in the Arctic zone. The main directions of development of the forces and means of EMERCOM of Russia have been considered; the development is aimed at providing geo-economic interests of the state in order to achieve the growth of economic power of the Russian Federation in the Arctic zone
