Strategies and tactics of perm artists in the period of "stagnation"

The article discusses the mechanisms of relations between the authorities and artists, in the late Soviet period - 1974-1985, on the example of the Perm organization of the Union of Artists. The subject of the analysis will be the strategies and tactics of artists. On the one hand, they experimented, exchanged experiences with their Western colleagues, created works in new directions that developed art, on the other, their work and views were perceived ambiguously by their senior management and faced with a crisis of the system. The main conclusion of the work is that the theoretical discourse newly created by the Soviet state provoked a conflict of power and artists, and later on the instability of the cultural field of the «stagnation» period.
