The article discusses continued employment of older people who have reached the retirement age, with particular focus on their communication with colleagues. The empirical data of this article is based on semistructured interviews with seniors living in St. Petersburg and Petrozavodsk. A total of 50 interviews were collected, which made it possible to obtain a fairly complete picture of the motives and strategies for interaction between older workers and teams they work in. In the study, three main strategies for interaction between seniors and their colleagues were identified. Each of them is characterized by unique communication features, the specifics of interactions, as well as various motives for continuing work. The article highlights the importance for older people to stay employed, both in order to keep socially active and to ensure their integration into public life. One of the key findings of the study is the identification of the leading role of communication in a working team. Recognition of an older person by colleagues increases his/her motivation to continue working. A sense of being important within the team also serves as a powerful incentive to stay employed and avoid retirement. The article highlights that maintaining respectful and constructive relationships with colleagues contributes not only to prolonged professional activity but also to improving general psychological state of older workers. Thus, the study demonstrates that a strategic approach to maintaining employment among seniors requires attention to the aspects of interpersonal interaction, corporate culture, and motivating factors within the working team. This opens up opportunities for further research in the field of age-related employment issues and social support practices aimed at older workers.
