The strategy to combat terrorism in the United States: contemporary trends

The article is devoted to the analysis of the evolution of the US strategy in the fight against terrorism after the events of September 11, 2001 and to the present. The authors provide an overview of the elements and trends of the modern development of the system of counteraction to both domestic and international terrorism, and reveal the process of multilateral cooperation between the United States and other states to solve this problem. The article assesses the degree of effectiveness of steps taken by the United States to implement counter-terrorism measures. It is concluded that the existing conceptual approach to the preventive element of the US counterterrorism strategy needs substantial modernization.
