The strategic management of an engineering company flexibly takes into account factors influencing the external and internal environment. At the same time, existing technological sanctions as an external environmental factor have a restraining effect on the Russian engineering market, which forces management to update the current business models of engineering companies. The article examines the importance of the market development strategy, proposes entry into a new geographical region - the Republic of Kazakhstan, and substantiates the need for this strategy in the conditions of import substitution and external challenges.
