The construction industry in Orel region: modern state, problems and solutions

Construction is one of the key fund-forming industries, that the formation of the national economy largely depends on. Ensuring a sustainable functioning and balanced development of the construction industry is one of the priorities of the social and economic policy of Russia, as it allows to solve a number of important state problems, including the creation of a favorable investment climate. The state of the construction sector depends on the economic and political trends in the national economy. The past economic crisis has had a significant negative impact on the functioning of the construction industry as a whole in the country and in each region. Since the state of the construction complex of the regions characterizes the level of well-being, economic growth, as well as opportunities for the development of territories, the study of the state and trends in the development of the construction sector is particularly relevant. At the present stage, the construction industry in the Orel region is one of the leading sectors of the economy, the share of the construction sector in the structure of the gross regional product is more than 7%. The study analyzed the main social and economic indicators characterizing the current state of the construction sector of the economy in the region: the total volume and growth rates of work, the number of operating enterprises, equipment of material and technical base, the dynamics of investment in the industry, the structure of products, the number of employees in the industry and the level of wages. The statistical analysis shows not only the positive trends in the industry after a long period of stagnation, but also the significant barriers that significantly constrain the pace of construction production. In this regard, the article discusses the main problems in the industry and proposes measures to address them.
