The possibility of using slag asphalt concrete in road surfaces in conditions of unsecured surface drainage of city streets and roads is shown. Asphalt concrete mixtures based on steelmaking slags of the Novokuznetsk Metallurgical Plant (Martin, Converter, Slag Kiln-Bucket) meet the requirements of GOST 9128-2013 «Asphaltic concrete and polimer asphaltic concrete mixtures, asphaltic concrete and polimer asphaltic concrete for roads and aerodromes. Specifications». The hypothesis of a change in the structural bonds in the material during prolonged exposure to water is confirmed. Indicators of construction and technical properties (for example, water resistance and compressive strength) with prolonged water saturation of slag asphalt concrete increase over time. The use of steelmaking slags in asphalt concrete contributes to improving the quality of asphalt concrete mixtures and road surfaces, and the level of road safety.
