The article discusses the foreign policy situation which developed at the Northeast Black Sea coast after the gain of the Turkish fortress Azov by the Russian army. The author studies the features of location and value of the new Ottoman fortress on the Azov coast. The strong and weak sides of the Achuyev fortress are discussed.
