A structure of confectionery sunflower varieties population on self-fertility

The purpose of our research was to study population structure of confectionary sunflower varieties Dobrynya, SPK, Belochka and Kulundinsky-1 on self-fertility. The research was conducted in OOO NPO “Triumph” in the Matveevo-Kurgansky district of the Rostov region in 2015-2016 and in Krasnodar, at fields of the All-Russia Research Institute of Oil Crops by Pustovoit V.S. (VNIIMK) in 2017-2018. We estimated self-fertility of 202 progenies of individual plants from foundation sowings of the variety Dobrynya. We isolated five plants before flowering on each plot of a nursery of progeny estimation. Extra pollination was not conducted. A level of self-fertility was determined as a rate between filled seeds amount at their self-pollination under isolators and seeds amount filled under free pollination expressed in percent. We determined the average level of self-fertility for the variety Dobrynya was equal 4.0%, a share of self-sterile families per a population was 25.7%.
