This article deals with the sociological conception developed by G. Simmel. G. Simmel’s sociology is built in a dialectical way by placing a dynamical interrelation and conflicts among those social units the analysis focuses on. G. Simmel’s emphasis on structural determinants of the social action becomes apparent in his conceptualization of one of the most abstract features of the group, that is a number of its participants. He examined forms of the group process and its structural organization as derivatives of quantitative relations.
