Today concern is caused by the possibility of the increased intake of selenium in animals’ organisms in connection with a selenization of food against the background of both the lack of standard indicators of this microelement’s contents in objects of nature and insufficient data on the mechanism of its toxic action. In connection with this we have conducted a research allowing to reveal selenium intoxication mechanisms in the course of six-months feeding of animals with the plants which have been grown under the conditions of selenium intake in doses of 0,5 and 1 maximum allowable concentrations (MAC) under the conditions of the southern forest-steppe of Omsk Oblast. When carrying out morphological and biochemical research the liver was used as a material of the research. Research has not revealed any significant morphofunctional changes in the liver of the animals which have been fed with the forages produced under the conditions of selenium intake in the dose of 0,5 MAC. In the animals of this group no signs of hypoxia or increase in lipid peroxidation have been noted, at the same time an increase in activity of antioxidant system has been revealed. At that there have been observed following phenomena in the liver: an increase in anti-oxidizing activity of lipids by 30,1% (р
