Structural and linguistic aspects of stand-up comedy

The article considers structural aspects of stand-up texts, analyses kinds of humorous texts in this genre, the rules of forming jokes and their linguistic realization. Lexical, phonetic, grammar and syntactic peculiarities of stand-up are listed together with the stylistic devices aimed at making the joke more comical. The jokes in the stand-up text are composed in one monologue, with allusions, callbacks and framing serving as means of cohesion.
