Structural and semantic features of a text construction ‘в самом деле’ in scientific publications of M. M. Bakhtin

The article discusses the structural and semantic features of the text construction ‘в самом деле’. The author focuses on the functional realization of this construction as a text joint which isn’t marked in dictionaries. The main text relation realized by this construction, the ‘thesis-argument’ relation, is completed by a comment on specifics of the argument and analysis of the modification of the main operation. The article discusses the communicative presuppositions for such a choice of joints by M. M. Bakhtin. Additionally, the article presents a comment on punctuation surrounding this construction in text.
