Information about structural peculiarities of intercellular persons skin matrix is presentedbased upon atomic power microscopy data in the norm and in chronic occlusive vascular atherosclerosis of lower extremities. Extracellular matrix in normal skin is shown to be represented by viscous liquid that surrounds collagen filaments by several layers. Its postulated that loss of skin porosity inevitably leads to disturbed water migration processes in the tissue. The hypothesis is settled that water source in interstitial edema in the stage of microcirculation block might be water which is sequestered by collagen.
