The author of this article considers the origin of Saturday and Sunday workdays in the Vladimir District on the basis of materials in the local press and in the context of their anti-religious component. Te author provides an overview of the local periodical press and their description of these events. Te reaction of believers in the Vladimir Diocese to these events is also considered. Tis topic becomes important in the context of new studies that have recently emerged, which offer a new look at Church-State relations during the Russian Civil War. Te concept of a Sunday workday is not well researched; there have been few studies of this topic. Based on archival documents, the author concludes that in addition to their function as costless ways of improving public spaces in the country, the Saturday and Sunday workdays also had a significant role as propaganda of atheism
