Jury trial: problems and development prospects

The article explores the modern challenges and prospects for further improvement of the jury trial system in Russia. Despite the increasing number of cases being heard, this institution faces several issues: lack of competence among jurors, limited authority, prolonged proceedings, and regional constraints. The author proposes solutions - reforms aimed at educating jurors, expanding their role in determining punishments, utilizing modern technologies to streamline procedures, and ensuring nationwide accessibility of jury trials. These measures are intended to strengthen the fairness of the justice system and bolster public confidence in this crucial democratic institution.
