Suicidal behavior as a marker of progression of alcohol addiction in persons with a personality disorder

The aim of the study was to identify a relationship between a history of suicidal behavior and the clinical and social characteristics of alcohol addiction in individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD). Material and Methods: 66 persons with BPD (52 men, 14 women) who were addicted to alcohol and were treated at the NSC Narcology Clinic, a branch of NIICPN under the name of V.P. Serbsky. The diagnosis of alcohol addiction and BDP was carried out using the ICD-10 criteria by clinical, psychopathological, clinical, anamnestic and psychometric methods. All examined patients were divided into two groups: with a history of suicidal behavior (group 1 - n=24) and without anamnestic data on suicidal behavior (group 2 - n=42). The comparison was carried out according to the main sociodemographic parameters and the clinical and dynamic characteristics of alcohol addiction.
