Objective: to study the prevalence of completed suicides and suicidal attempts among the population of the Irkutsk Region in 2019. Research Materials. When studying the epidemiological patterns of completed suicides in the Irkutsk Region, information systems are used on the frequency of suicidal actions of certain groups of the population (data from the Territorial Body of the Federal State Statistics Service for the Irkutsk Region - Irkutskstat), the Medical Information and Analytical Center (MIAC) of the Ministry of Health of the Irkutsk Region. Results. The rates of completed suicides of the population of the Irkutsk Region in 2019 remain invariably high (17.7 per 100,000 of the population) and exceed the Russian indices (11.6 per 100,000 of the population). Indices of completed suicides of the population of the Irkutsk Region for the period 1991-2019 have decreased by 2.1 times (from 37.3 to 17.7 per 100,000 of the population), reaching the maximum decrease in the age range of 60 years and older - by 3.9 times. The number of men who commit suicide have exceeded the indices of women in 2019 by 6.5 times, which corresponds to the all-Russian proportion of male and female suicides - 4-6: 1. The maximum rates of completed suicides in the population of the Irkutsk Region are typical for persons aged 30-39 years (30.4 per 100,000 of the population) and 80 years and older (23.4 per 100,000 of the population). The maximum rates of completed suicides in the male population of the Irkutsk Region are typical for persons aged 30-39 (53.5 per 100,000 of the population) and 80 years and older (64.5 per 100,000 of the population). The maximum rates of completed suicides of the female population of the Irkutsk Region are observed in persons aged 15-19 (12.8 per 100,000 of the population) and 80 years and older (11.3 per 100,000 of the population). The analysis of completed suicides in urban and rural areas of the Irkutsk Region shows the predominance of rural suicides by 2.4 times (rural male suicides predominate by 2.2 times; rural female suicides predominate by 2.6 times). The maximum number of suicide attempts by the population of the Irkutsk Region is observed in the age intervals of 15-19 years and 20-29 years (77.0 and 63.0 per 100,000 of the population of the corresponding age). The most common methods of suicidal attempts are poisoning, stabbing, and hanging. Conclusion. The results obtained allow developing preventive measures aimed at reducing the suicidal activity of the population of the Irkutsk Region.
