Suicidal behavior of children and adolescents in the Trans-Baikal krai, the problem of “groups of death”

The paper discusses the problem of suicidal behavior of children and adolescents in the Trans-Baikal Krai, involvement in the so called “groups of death” in the Internet. The official statistical data, materials of criminal cases, and examination of the circumstances of suicides of minors in the Trans-Baikal Krai are analyzed. A clinical case of suicidal attempt of an adolescent from the “group of death” is described. In the Trans-Baikal Krai the situation with mortality due to suicide among adolescents remains tense. The “groups of death” which involve minors in suicidal behavior, often by using threats, become a new problem. This requires serious attention and finding solutions. In the Trans-Baikal Krai a complex of preventive measures aimed at reducing suicidal activity of the population is developed. Currently, the State Duma has already introduced a series of bills clarifying the relevant articles of the criminal code, and introducing liability for administrators of “groups of death”, the activity of whom is associated with motivating to commit suicide.
