Suicide in Tyumen and the south of the Tyumen region (Western Siberia): dynamics for 2007-2012

The suicide rate in the city of Tyumen below the average: in 2012 – 17.2 per 100,000 population (the ratio of male / female – 1:4,4). In the south of the Tyumen region in 2012 is higher than the national average – 32.4 per 100,000 population (the ratio of male / female – 1:4,3). The main method of suicide is self-hanging – to 91.1%. In the last 6 years there has been a positive trend towards further reducing the number of suicides. For 10 months in 2012 in Tyumen registered 777 suicide attempts – 143.4; in the south of the Tyumen region – 368 attempts – 67.0 per 100,000 population per year. The main way for women – self-poisoning – to 75.0% in men – self-cuts – to 47.3%. The city organized the systematic integration of suicidal acts (suicide register).
