Suicidology and criminalistics: ways of interaction

The aim of the study is analysing possible ways of interaction between criminalistics and suicidology. Materials and methods: On the basis of a systematic analysis of the theoretical and science foundations of the criminalistics and suicidology, the interaction options and the prospects for the development of the areas of knowledge are highlighted. The achievements of both sciences are resources for mutual development, complementation, and contribute to the systematization of criminalistic and suicidologic knowledge. It is concluded that methodological, organizational and information tasks should be solved with the interaction of criminalistics and suicidology. The most significant components of forensic and suicidological knowledge that can be used for mutual development are considered. The main form in which suicidological data can be applied in criminalistics is the criminalistic characteristics of suicide, which is an important information tool for the recognition of the manner of death, death investigation, as well as for the development of appropriate criminalistics scientific recommendations. It is proposed to include a criminalistic component as a section of suicidology. Conclusions: The importance of holding joint scientific events with the participation of specialists in suicidology, criminalistics, forensic expertology, forensic medicine, psychology, and psychiatry is underlined. As a starting point in the formation of criminalistical-suicidological interdisciplinary studies, it is proposed to consider the study of criminalistically important signs of suicide.
