The article shows the emergence and the process of formation of a scientific paradigm from ancient times to the modern period. The paradigm shift in science is traced. The author attempts to reveal the essence and content of the concept of "paradigm ", necessary for the implementation of paradigmatic approach to the process of education development. The components of the educational process forming the pedagogical paradigm are shown.
