Essence and contents of the social protection of working population

The article analyses the present definitions of the essence and contents of the notions of social protection and social support (assistance) of population, which are used in the Russian legislative acts, but are not synonyms. Therefore, they need to be made more concrete and more precise in order to avoid misinterpretation of the essence of the state normative acts. The author offers his own definition of the notion of social protection.
