The article discusses the nature, role and value of research and technology in criminal legal proceedings. The author proposes a definition of technical means as a set of technical instruments, devices, gadgets used in the course of procedural actions and sentencing, with the help of which significant for the criminal case evidence, phenomena or events are detected, recorded or removed.
