Ontological foundations of education in the conception of new education by John Henry Newman

The author considers a conceptual development of the ontological foundations of the higher university education, its principles and contents, by the outstanding English philosopher of the 19th century J. H. Newman. The article covers the main theoretical propositions of the thinker regarding the principle features of the higher educational establishment as a social institution.
