Sovereign wealth funds as a factor of development of the global finance system

The article is a description of investment policies and tools of management of sovereign investment funds as a relatively new finance institution. It contains an analysis of the problems and objective limitations in using these funds to solve current problems of the national economy. The author shows the role of sovereign funds in stabilising the global currency system and their prospects in establishing international currency unions.
