When designing aircraft systems to produce a given level of effective surface scattering absorbing materials and coatings have strictly defined parameters: a variable thickness along the profile, a complex structure with the changing values of the complex permittivity and permeability. Implementation of the properties of modern coatings is possible only with the Straw-d observance of technological modes and tolerances in their application. The same severe restrictions are imposed on the tolerance values of permittivity and permeability of radar absorbing coatings. The task of ensuring reliable adhesion of radar absorbing coatings to the skin self-summer, made of various materials and subjected to a variety of surfaces handling is quite complicated. In case of insufficient adhesion the internal high-voltages lead to detachment and high adhesion - cracking of radar absorbing coatings. During operation of the samples of airborne systems, especially in difficult conditions and under extreme mechanical and thermal loads, there are inevitable situations when various defects such as delamination, cracking, chips, scratches and so onwill appear in radar absorbing coatings, resul¬ting in increase of the effective surface scattering and reduce combat capabilities. Microwave method for detection of inhomogeneities of the dielectric and magnitodi-electric coating on the metal and assessment of their relative magnitudes is designed, consisting in creation of afield of the surface slow wave microwave range upon the surface of a dielectric or magnetodielectric coverage, measurement of the field strength across the surface of the material in the normal to the direction of propagation wave plane defined by the value of the electrical field attenuation parameters, and on the degree of deviation of the attenuation coefficient of the mean field - border detachment of the coating and the value of its delamination from the substrate.
