Information about the works in Noteburg (Noteborg) XVII century

The architectural complex of the fortress Oreshek consists of numerous buildings of different times, its uniqueness, including the combination of medieval towers with Bastion fortifications of the XVIII century. The bastions of Shlisselburg were erected by order of Peter I, their construction and facing with stone were completed only in 1756, but the need to strengthen the fortress fence with bastions was realized in the XVII century. According to the Swedes, the fall of the fortress under the pressure of storming troops on October 11, 1702 was a consequence of the fact that it was not strengthened according to the plan proposed by E. Dahlberg. The article tells about the attempts of the Swedes to improve the ancient Russian construction and build bastions, examines in detail the construction history, functional features and place in the defense system of the capital structure of the Swedish period -the King tower.
