Saint Mardary Uskokovich and Ivan Palmov

Бесплатный доступ

The famous Serbian saint, founder of the American-Canadian Serbian Diocese, lived in Russia in the pre-revolutionary era and graduated from the Petrograd Theological Academy in 1916. Its reviewer was Academy Professor Ivan Savvich Palmov, who was sympathetic to his work. It is known that they intersected earlier, as part of the activities of the Slavic Charitable Society. In the article, the history of their contacts is considered in dynamics and subjected to comprehension. An important historical source, still unknown to Russian readers, is used - the memoirs of St. Mardary. The main conclusions of the article is that the writing of a dissertation on A. S. Khomyakov by Hieromonk Mardary was to a certain extent predetermined by the similarity of the views of the future by the saint and Professor Palmov, who manifested itself during their communication in the extra-academic activity of both, which did not prevent Saint Mardary from subsequently taking a radically different ideological position when he ended up in the USA.
