Sanctity in orthodoxy of the XX century: personifcation and canonization practice of the Russian orthodox churches

In the context of current trends in the development of historiography of the Russian Orthodox Church history in the XX century the author analyses I.V. Semenenko-Basin’s monograph “Sanctity in the Russian orthodox culture of the XX century: Personifcation history” (Moscow, 2010). It is shown that in this original research the problem of sanctity and formation of canonized images of saints is presented through the phenomena and events of the Church’s inner political life. Canonization practice (each separate noticeable act of glorifcation) receives scientifc treatment.
