Studied the prevalence of obesity (OJ) and the metabolic syndrome (MS) in the Chuvash Republic and the connection parameters of MS with the volume of adipose tissue as a function of ethnicity and gender. A total of 985 people. The diagnosis of MS according to the criteria exposed IDF (2005). We determined the thickness of subcutaneous and visceral fat (RV VZH) using magnetic resonance imaging and ultrasound. We observed a higher incidence of MS in the coolant and the Russian compared with Chuvash, in women compared with men. Development of MS is caused by an increase in adipose tissue, and correlation analysis of the data parameters with the thickness of MS and RV VZH are comparable with correlation ties the body mass index and waist circumference. Ethnic and gender differences in the prevalence of MS, probably due to the peculiarities of hormonal activity of adipose tissue.
