Freedom of contract and its relation to the principle of good faith in civil law

The article is designed to determining the role of the freedom of contract in civil law and assessing its impact on a market economy development. According to the results of the study, the current stage of development of Russian civil law is marked with granting citizens and organizations the freedom to dispose of their rights and obligations independently in their contract relationships. There is a principle of good faith which is the key element ensuring the preservation of the actions of the contracting parties within the legal framework and the suppression of abuses of one or another party when choosing the content and especially the terms of the contract.
