The article concentrates on the teachings of I. Kant about freedom and duty. Kant defined freedom as a product of one’s inner world and the human dignity was defined by this term. Indeed, a person deprived of freedom is also deprived of human dignity, because that person is compelled to fulfill the will of others. The paradox of Kant’s ethics is that, although moral action is directed towards the realization of inborn and moral perfection, it cannot be achieved in this world. In ethical life he sees the spiritual source of radical transformation and renewal of a person and society.
