The article deals with the originality of historicism in fiction on the material of novels “Yemelyan Pugachev” by V. Ya. Shishkov and “Sevastopol Strada” by S. N. Sergeyev-Tsensky. It reveals the methodology of work of authors of historical prose, the similarities and peculiarities of their works.
