The article is devoted to the problem of analysis and description of phonetic properties of speech sounds in a coherent text. It is known that the modification of sounds is conditioned in the languages of various systems by the processes of assimilation, reduction, elision, verbal and phrase stress, rhythmic structure of the language, vowel harmony, speech tempo and other reasons. It is difficult to consider the phonetic properties of a connected speech of a specific language in the pronunciation of speakers of a different language. In this article, the author presents the results of an experimental-phonetic analysis of the qualitative characteristics of English short and long vowels in the composition of proverbs recorded by six speakers - carriers of the modern Khalkha-Mongolian language. The material for reading was 100 English proverbs. The author carried out auditory, spectral and statistical analyzes of the allophonic variation of vowels in connected speech.
