Обзор литературы посвящен анализу данных о взаимосвязи табакокурения и суицида. Показано, что у курящих значительно чаще встречаются хронические соматические заболевания, психические расстройства, которые могут приводить к депрессии и способствовать суицидальным попыткам. С другой стороны, результаты исследований свидетельствуют, что активное курение связано с самоубийством и существует корреляция между большим числом выкуриваемых в день сигарет и более высокими рисками самоубийств.
