Phylogenetic relationships between two species of the genus Leymus: L. secalinus (Georgi) Tzvel and L. littoralis (Griseb.) Peschkova were studied by molecular genetic analysis using ISSR primers. The results of the studies revealed the isolation of the L. secalinus species, and that the distribution of the species is limited to the northern coast of Lake Baikal. Also confirmed the view of G. A. Peshkova, that the species of L. secalinus is endemic to the shores of Lake Baikal. The range of L. littoralis is more extensive and not limited to the territory of Eastern Siberia of Russia, and covers the territory of Inner Mongolia of China, Mongolia.
