Face-to-face confrontation is one of the most difficult investigative actions. When deciding whether to conduct a confrontation, the investigator must weigh all the risks that can lead to a negative result. For example, a person giving truthful testimony may change his testimony under psychological influence of the second participant in the confrontation. The active participation of a lawyer defending an accused person who gives false testimony can also lead to the fact that another participant in the confrontation will begin to change his testimony. Thus, the investigator must carefully prepare for the confrontation, provide different options for the development of the situation, taking into account the fact that a professional lawyer who is well versed in forensic tactics and techniques will attend the investigative action. The investigator needs to consider what tactics the defender will use to achieve his goals and what tactics the investigator himself will have to use. The paper discusses the tactics of preparation and conducting confrontation and possible actions of a lawyer and his client, giving false testimony.
