Management Strategy for Rectal Cancer Patients with Complete Clinical Response After Chemoradiotherapy

The aim of the study was to analyze the immediate and long-term treatment outcomes in rectal cancer patients with complete clinical response to chemoradiotherapy. Material and Methods. The results of chemoradiotherapy were analyzed in 20 patients with cancer of the middle and lower ampullary rectum, who were treated at the Irkutsk Regional Cancer Center from 2018 to 2022. The median age of the patients was 68.4 ± 2.3 years. There were 60 % men and 40 % women. The tumor was located in the lower and middle parts of the rectum in 85 % and 15 % of the patients, respectively. The size of the tumor was 3.7 ± 0.4 cm.
