Theatre and musical art office Russian emigrants in Shanghai

The article describes the cultural life of the Russian community in Shanghai with special attention to theater and music, which flourished in the 1920s and 1930s. The author focuses on the activity of musicians, drama artists, opera and operetta troupes, Russian theater companies of Russian Shanghai, recognizing the contribution of such associations as the Shanghai Art Club and the Commonwealth of artists, writers, artists, musicians (“KhLAM”) to the cultural life of the Russian emigration. The article is based on Russian periodicals in China and the United States and other emigrant sources.
