The article covers the issues of using the methods of Queuing theory and inventory management theory in the logistics approach to restoring the performance of machines by replacing faulty components and aggregates with new or repaired ones. The level of use of logistics potential is determined by comparing these methods, the fundamental difference between which is that the use of the Queuing theory is necessary and appropriate in cases where a failed element immediately goes into repair, carried out at the location of the warehouse for storing the stock of replacement elements. In cases where the place of repair does not match the location of the warehouse of replacement elements, the exchange of components and aggregates can be carried out in batches, the optimal parameters of which are not established by the Queuing theory. The use of inventory management theory is preferable if the repair and exchange of faulty units and components is performed only in batches. At the same time, it allows one to determine such important parameters as the optimal volume of a batch of units sent for repair, and the critical level of their stocks at the base, at which the next batch of units should be sent for replacement, as well as the safety stock of replacement-exchange elements for the period of delivery of the next batch.
