Technical condition of railway transportation in Eastern Siberia (19851990)

This article is devoted to the analysis of technical condition of railway transportation in Eastern Siberia in the period of 19851990. Using archival documents, the author concludes that despite the progress in scientific and technological modernization, the end of the 80s of the XX-th century was a period of extensive growth and stagnation for the Russian railway complex. Bogged down in bureaucratic procedures during the transition to a new system of market relations, the transportation system of the RSFSR began significantly lagging behind in its development.
