Technical improvement of commercial oil production and major construction in the north of Western Siberia in the 1960s-1970s

The research analyzed the technical improvement and technological refinement of oil and gas development of Russia’s largest energy province. The specific environmental conditions of the North of Western Siberia did not allow one to use the techniques and methods of extracting hydrocarbon raw materials in this region that had been tested in the Central and Southern regions of the country. These technologies were found and successfully implemented on the territory under review thanks to the hard work of scientists, engineers, and technicians. The research focused on providing people in the North of Siberia with suitable accommodation. The author noted the positive results of the design and survey work of architects and designers who managed to create unique Northern houses providing Siberians with reliable protection from the harsh climate.
